Message from the crew to TVXQ

U-know Yunho - leadership, always highly responsibility, taking care of members all the time, and give importance to everyone in the crew. He spent his free time warming up his voice, and singing. He has extremely high confidence but the only thing worries him is the future of TVXQ and the band development. How suitable for his role as leader.

Max Changmin - the man who comes with the words 'anything/whatever'. He's quite quiet and shy person. Spent all his time with iPod and Laptop. He likes to live in his own world playing games, surfing internet, watching movie. There was once that everyone was shopping at duty free except Changmin. He said he wanted to play computer. After everyone was done shopping, the crew had to go back and pick up Changmin to board the plane. The crew said to OK! magazine that whenever the crew asked Changmin if he would like this or that, he always replies 'anything/whatever'.

Xiah Junsu - the first time the crew met Xiah, he was very very lively person but at the same time it was very difficult to predict his mood. He sometimes seemed difficult to reach and the crew think he is the most mysterious member of the team. However, when he's in playful mood he would pick on every single person!

Micky Yoochun - Extremely gentleman and very observant! Micky is very curious person and very observant. If two crew members walked together, Micky would ask if those two were dating and we got all confused as of why in the world would micky want to know about that. He always changes his hairstyle by the time you read OK! magazine he would probably already changed his hairstyle. Which is true, during press conference for YAMAHA on feb 2nd, 2008 he already sported very short bang on the forehead.

Hero Jaejoong - He is the person that the crew loves so much. Even though during the first meeting he was the only one that everyone tried to avoid. Everyone would go to Changmin, Yunho, Micky, and Junsu but nobody would talk to Jaejoong. And this was the question Jaejoong asked the crew about why nobody talked to him. The crew said because Jaejoong you don't smile, everyone got scared thought you were moody. Jaejoong jokingly said no he didn't want to smile because he wouldn't look good when he smiled. Then he tried to share jokes and everything. The crew said Jaejoong won their hearts with his charisma.

Malenie in Gone with the Wind

excerpt - Rethinking the Presentation

似乎需要多花点心思在这里,否则只能变成湖M爱的永远问号了。

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Rethinking the Presentation

These practical tips can help you improve your presentations and avoid sabotaging your business's chances of success

In 2005 a Texas jury ordered drug giant Merck (MRK) to pay $253 million in damages (BusinessWeek.com, 9/5/08) to the estate of Robert Ernst. Houston trial lawyer Mark Lanier had argued the case for the Ernst family. Lanier used PowerPoint slides designed by presentation design specialist Cliff Atkinson. Atkinson told me that while the Merck lawyers bombarded the jurors with science and data, Lanier told an emotional story using visuals. I saw the slides. They contained few words and no bullet points.

Today's column is not meant to teach you the mechanics of PowerPoint or Keynote but to make you aware of a few ideas I borrowed from Cliff Atkinson and other presentation design gurus, Nancy Duarte (BusinessWeek.com, 4/10/07) and Garr Reynolds. Their practical tips can help you rethink your own presentations and avoid botching your business's chances of success with a boring or confusing presentation.

Create a new normal. In his latest book, Presentation Zen, Garr Reynolds writes: "What is 'normal' today is out of sync and off-kilter with how people actually learn and communicate. Research supports the idea that it is indeed more difficult for audiences to process information when it is being presented to them in spoken and written form at the same time." Reynolds recommends an approach to presentation design that is simple, visual, and "ultimately more meaningful." His tips include the following:

Prepare in analog. Most professional designers plan on paper, not by opening their slide software.

------- i found that i'm extremely low efficient in preparing presentation. one reason is that i am a perfectionist. the other is that i found my process of structuring the presen and searching for information are usually taking several rounds of ammendments.

it needs time to become a really deep thinker. however, there should be ways to improve the process of developing the logic and filling in relevant evidences.

what i should try to do now are that:
  • trust my own logic: first develop a reasonable logic development
  • digesting information and do summarize them into usable words when searching
  • develop a logic tree when encounter new ideas, know where it is leading me to
-------------------

Cut the noise. "Noise" refers to elements that distract from the central message of your slide. Minimize the noise by eliminating inappropriate charts, lines, shapes, and symbols.

--------- Package the information!! the investment presentaion of two mainland girls were really neat. i almost remember every point they made. how they divided their portfolio->how to buy bond->how to buy stock(diversified, interesting news in selecting mobile phones) ->gold->lessons. Highlight the NEWs here, cuz it really make sense so it sticks!!!! it's probably one of the secrets that makes a magic presentation. but as it's getting harder for people to understand the idea when giving both visual aids and audio aids, in order to have a presentation that really change people's mind (or improving their knowledge), let them GET IT is the key. that's probably one of the reasons for Landmark's success.

i should starting thinking about the logic or receiving ability of audience so that i can better use the aids. add oil for the U21!!

--------------------------------

Avoid bullet points. Use bullet points only in rare circumstances and only after you have considered other options to display the information visually.

Picture superiority. Pictures are more easily remembered than words, yet most PowerPoint decks contain far more words than images. Create presentations that have more in common with a documentary film than an overhead transparency.

----------- not totally agree with above. for academic presentation, the audience have higher IQ (presumably) or they are more prepared to accept the challenge of the logic. so the words can lead a deeper thinking! (China's puzzle by UC berkeley prof)

--------------------------------

One big misconception of presentation design is that you must be a skilled artist to create more interesting presentations. Wrong. I can't draw a stick figure, but I've learned how to transform my own presentations into multimedia experiences. Remember that your presentation doesn't have to be a work of art. By engaging your listeners, you will stand out. By boring them, you're doing a disservice to yourself and your business.

Regardless of how proficient you are at using slide software, you can improve by practicing what Duarte calls "visual absorption." When looking at advertisements, magazines, TV commercials, and well-designed Web pages, ask yourself: "Why is this beautiful to me, and how can I incorporate some of these techniques in my next presentation?" Appreciate beauty to create beauty. Make a connection with your audience by creating slides that are visual, simple, clear, and, above all, different.
